Behind The Design: Victoria Project
Welcome to another inside look at one of our latest design projects: The Victoria Project. Super excited to chat about this project as this is our first-ever model home to add to our portfolio! This project required us to step a bit outside of our comfort zone, as we typically work on spec and custom homes. Designing for a model has its limitations, however, we were still able to push innovation and trends for the current market and buyers for our client. Grab your snacks and let’s deep dive into how this project came to life!
CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
First and foremost with any project, we start with building our initial concept based on the client’s needs for their model home structure, while adding in our dose of expertise. For this specific project, it was important for us to capture multiple levels of material finishes to showcase throughout the model home. The builder provides different tiers/levels of finishes, and it was our job to ensure we captured a healthy balance of premium upgrades and level I options to review in the model home. In addition, we wanted to ensure that the model home was up to par with the current market for buyers in this specific area. Overall, the design concept showcases a clean neutral aesthetic with wood tones and a mix of tiles to add a bit of flare into the mix. We also opted for all matter black finishes for this home. Below is our final concept of tiles and countertops for this home!
FURNISHING SELECTIONS
After all of the interior finishes were established, we moved forward with the furniture and decor selections for the home. The home is mostly bright and white paired with deep wood tones to create warmth and contrast. We went with a country-inspired theme for the home by incorporating overall neutral tones of black, brown, and cream. Due to it’s prime location, it was important also to capture a country theme, considering the development offers a range of 1-4 acre lots.
SITE TRIPS
We love to document projects as we go! It’s not always pretty, but there is beauty in every part of the design process. Whether is measuring plan changes, watching tile be installed or scheduling a furniture delivery, there is so much that is done behind the scenes to get projects to the finish line.
INSTALL PREP + INSTALL WEEK!
Install day turned into install week! Having a small team and working with vendor delays extended our install progress, but nonetheless we still got it done! Some things you don’t usually see behind the scenes would be, inventory checks and inventory receiving. Another important step is quality control: making sure all items have arrived and are not damaged for the client. Running back and forth to the store for any additional filler decor items you feel like the space may or may not need. Not to mention the 99 boxes that need to be labeled and then unboxed at site to prepare for styling. All in all, this is some heavy lifting and can be much more time-consuming with a small team to accomplish.
Here are a few true behind-the-scenes of our install week for the model home - yes it’s not very glamorous, but we love it here!
That’s all for this week’s blog! As always thank you for for joining our journey! We hope you enjoyed seeing some more behind the scenes work and a snippet of what goes went into this model home project. Until next time!
